ATL tank in France
ATL completed the construction of a massive new display tank. This is the latest ATL tank in France and was supplied to the world renowned Nausicaa Aquarium in Boulogne- sur-mer, Northern France.
The ATL and Nausicaa design teams worked together closely to develop a modern display approach to replace an original and much loved 1990’s aquarium. Measuring nearly 12 metres long by 6.5m wide the steel reinforced tank was designed and built in sections at ATL’s dedicated aquarium factory here in Weymouth. Each tank section was designed to suit maximum HGV truck bed space. This allowed safe transit across the entire European road network, whilst minimising site assembly times. Once on site each section had to be lifted by crane and installed through the wall of the existing aquarium building at high level via a specially created access. Overcoming difficult access scenarios is a speciality of the ATL installation teams and this project was no exception!
The display tank features a special sloping floor which incorporating varying levels to suit different species. A 6 metre long 3 edge supported, thermoformed clear cast acrylic viewing panel offers fantastic views of all of the creatures.
For the past 15 years ATL can proudly boast to have supplied a number of major new aquarium tanks and displays to the Nausicaa aquarium. This tank is the latest ATL addition to Nausicaa’s stunning array of world renowned aquarium exhibits.
